Mary L DeCicco, age 75, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday January 7,
2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories her loving Husband, James R. DeCicco, daughter
Julia Davis and son Bradley (Cathie) DeCicco, all of Decatur, IL; four Grandchildren:  
Desiree (Lee) Wright, DeWayne Cobb, Dianthe Cobb and Dustin Cobb; four Great
Grandsons:  Jayden Elliott, Antonio Cobb, Ja’Rell Wright and Dre’Tairus Stewart; two
Step Great Grandsons Ashley Jr. and Antonio Wright and one Great-great grandson
Christian; Brother Ivan (Pam) Plain of Florida. She is preceded in death by her mother
Iola Faye Anderson; step-fathers Donald Anderson and Ivan Plain; sister Diane Plain and
brother Rick Plain

Mary was born in June of 1943 in Peoria, IL. She was a graduate of Niantic-Harristown
High School. She worked as a cook for many years in the Decatur area at various
restaurants and was an attendant at Classic Cleaners before retiring in 2006 from ABC

Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She married James R. DeCicco in
September of 1970 and they spent 48 wonderful years together. She had two children:  
Julia (1964} and Bradley (1976).  

Mary was a social, active woman who was deeply involved with and served as a faithful
member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for many
years. She was also an active member in the local TOPS chapter holding the office of
assistant weight recorder. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, crocheting and
spending time with her grandchildren and great grandsons. She was an avid reader and
loved to do puzzles and journal. Her family and friends will always remember her smile
and laughter and the delicious meals she made.  She was such an easy person to talk to.
Her funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 10:00 AM at First Free
Will Baptist Church 2709 N. 27th St. Decatur, IL 62526.  

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, January 14, 2019 from 5-7 PM at the church.
Interment will take place at Macon Cemetery in Macon, IL.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and respiratory staff at St. Mary’s
Hospital for taking such wonderful care of Mom during her brief stay.  We would also
like to thank our Pastor Stephen Cantrell for always being there for whatever we needed.  
Our family and friends for all their prayers and comfort during this difficult time.  Mom
will be missed every single day.
