Wayne Joseph “Pee Wee” Rhodes, 85 of Decatur died at 1:30 pm. Tuesday
January 1, 2019 in Fairhavens Christian Village surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral mass will be 11:00 am. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. James Catholic Church
with Fr. John Burnette as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before the Mass at the
church. Burial with Military Rites by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Macon
County Memorial Park. If desired memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church
(742 East Clay Decatur, Illinois 62521). Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in
charge of the arrangements.
Wayne was born in May of 1933 in Carlinville, Illinois youngest child of Charles and
Genevieve Rhodes. He graduated from Carlinville High School and served in the U.S.
Army. He was married to Anita Roembke from 1954 to 1971 and Donna Baker from 1975
to 1979. Wayne had an optimistic entrepreneurial spirit and helped others to advance.
He was hard working, family oriented, a salesman and investor. He was a district
manager for Fuller Brush Company, manager for U.P.S., A.L. Williams Securities and a
senior director for Melaleuca. He enjoyed many things such as hunting, fishing,
gardening, boating, roller skating and socializing, mostly loving on his family.
Surviving are his children, Brenda (Joseph) Eden of Decatur, Gail (David) Harrison of
Roseville, California, Terry (Brenda) Rhodes of Decatur, Michele (Timothy) Hartman of
Colorado Springs, Colorado, Julie (Craig) Dickinson of Colorado Springs, Cory Rhodes of
Springfield, Illinois, brothers, Emmett Rhodes of California, Loren (Rosemarie) Rhodes
of Carlinville, Illinois, sister Audrey (Robert) Kates of Carlinville, sister-in-law, Marilyn
Rhodes of Gillespie, Illinois, fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren,
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Kathleen Harms, brother, Dale Rhodes,
brother-in-law, Wayne Harms and sister-in-law, Patricia Rhodes.
